Where is the showcase?
Chesapeake Arts Center. 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, Maryland
Will tickets be sold at the door?
No, tickets will only be sold in advance during office hours.
*Please do not enter the building before your scheduled time. Dancers should arrive stage ready, in costume, with a jacket over their costume.
What time should my dancer arrive?
30 minutes prior to show start time!
How is my dancer supposed to wear their hair?
Ponytail for hip-hop dances and High Bun for all other dances. (Hair spray, gel and bobby pins are recommended to pull hair back neatly) Bangs should be sprayed and pinned back off of the forehead. FDC members should do the same as mentioned above for all comp dances. (no space buns, braids, part, etc..)
What make-up should my dancewear?
We recommend dancers to wear a Light foundation, blush, warm tone eye make-up, mascara and warm tone lipstick color. FDC members, no face rhinestones.
What shoes should my dancer wear for their hip-hop dance?
Any athletic shoe (nike, adidas, etc will work)
How long should I expect the recital to be?
Each show should be an hour long, give or take a few minutes. We work extremely hard to make our recitals go as smooth and as quickly as possible. That being said we want all dancers to have a great experience. Slight pauses and re-doing the dance can happen.
Where can I find the showcase order?
The show order will be sent out via email (from firstname.lastname@example.org). If you do not receive it, please let us know. *check your spam folder, sometimes emails we send end up there.
How do I get a showcase program?
Programs will be available via QR code and pdf link. An email with the code and a pdf link will be provided the day before the showcase.
Will you be having the end of the show dance?
Yes! We invite all dancers back on stage after the last dance of each show.
Is there an intermission?
We will not have an intermission. We ask you to please stay seated through the entire show unless it's absolutely necessary to get up. Thank you!
Will there be a DVD of the shows available for purchase?
All families participating in the show will receive a digital download of all 3 showcases.
Will you be offering love lines and good luck ads for the showcase program?
Yes! Order forms are available in the showcase packet. Please fill one out and email or turn it in to the studio as soon as possible! Forms are due May 7.
Can we take photos or videos during the performance?
Video and photography will NOT be allowed in the auditorium. This is distracting to our dancers and audience members.
Where does the audience enter and exit the building?
Audience and dancers will enter and exit through the main entrance of the venue.
What if my dancer is in more than one dance?
One parent will be allowed to come backstage for costume changes only. After the costume change, please leave your dancer with the volunteer assigned to their class.
Can my dancer sit with me before and after they dance?
Yes. Please bring your dancer to the staging area 3 numbers before you dancers’ performance.
Where do I pick up my dancer after their performance?
From a CFDC staff member or assigned volunteer from the staging area.
Who will be helping my dancer when I am not with them?
CFDC staff and student volunteers. Only for a costume change will a parent be allowed backstage. We ask that parents only come back for dancers who aren’t able to change themselves. Primarily our younger dancers. (only for a costume change) Older dancers will have CFDC staff and student volunteers to help.
When do I bring my dancer back for their performance?
3 numbers before their performance. There will be CFDC staff and student volunteers waiting for each class before each show. We ask that only one parent bring their dancer to the backstage area.
